Meditation Retreats (Singapore)

On the last weekend of every month, two full day retreats are held in conjuction with Uttamayanmuni Buddhist Temple in their premise at 32B Hong San Terrace (off Choa Chu Kang Ave 2). These retreats are aimed to encourage disciplined, focused sittings, and to allow practitioners to have formal interviews with the Venerable teachers. Dhamma talks by guest Venerables and learned lay teachers are normally held during these retreats as well.

The day starts at 8:30am with morning veneration and basic meditation instructions for beginners.

At 11:00am, practitioners are invited to participate in Sangha Dana. After the Venerables have been offered their meals, and transference of merit performed, practitioners are then invited to partake their meals.

Sitting continues from 1.00pm until about 3.30pm. During this afternoon sitting is also the time when formal interviews are conducted. Those who do not require an interview continue their practise quietly in the meditation hall.
